Castilla Named Chair of the Academy of Management’s Organization and Management Theory Division

MIT Sloan Professor Emilio J. Castilla

MIT Sloan Professor Emilio J. Castilla is the incoming Chair of the Organization and Management Theory (OMT) Division of the Academy of Management (AOM), a leading global professional association for scholars of management and organizations. Castilla is the NTU Professor of Management and a Professor of Work and Organization Studies at the MIT Sloan School of Management, where is also Co-Director of the MIT Institute for Work and Employment Research (IWER).

The OMT Division of AOM aims to promote scholarship that advances our understanding of organizations and businesses. According to the OMT Division’s website, the Organization and Management Theory Division represents “an inclusive community of scholars who draws on a rich intellectual heritage to build and test theory about organizations, their members, their management, organization-environment relations, organizing processes and broader markets and fields.”

Castilla’s new leadership role comes after three years of increasing responsibilities as an officer in the AOM’s OMT division: He was previously elected to serve as OMT’s Program Chair Elect, then as its Program Chair, and most recently, as OMT’s Division Chair Elect.
