Cambridge, Mass., November 2, 2018—MIT Sloan Global Programs will hold the first International Faculty Fellows (IFF) Conference with Tsinghua University on Monday, November 12, 2018, in Beijing. The conference is one of the plenary events to coincide with the MIT China Summit, which will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 13, at the Park Hyatt. The conference brings IFFs from Global Programs' partner schools together with industry leaders, alumni, and faculty to discuss the future of Chinese management education, as well as the latest trends in curriculum development, publishing, and research.Launched in 1996, the IFF program invites faculty from MIT Sloan's international partner institutions and affiliated schools to MIT Sloan for a semester of teaching and research development. More than 400 international faculty members to date have participated in the program. Current IFFs are primarily from MIT Sloan's partner programs in China, Portugal, Brazil, Malaysia, and the MIT Regional Entrepreneurship Acceleration Program (REAP).

“We are entering a new era of business education—one that is increasingly interconnected with the needs and demands of our global society,” said David Capodilupo, Assistant Dean, MIT Sloan Global Programs. “Now is the perfect time to convene IFFs from around the world to gain new perspectives on research, get fresh ideas for their own course curricula and approaches to instruction, and expand their professional networks. We look forward to a full day of engaging and enlightening conversation.”

The upcoming conference, which this year will be held at the Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management, is expected to draw close to 100 IFF alumni from the region. Its agenda includes presentations, panels, and workshops on a wide variety of topics including AI, globalization, and entrepreneurship.

Yasheng Huang, the International Program Professor in Chinese Economy and Business and a Professor of Global Economics and Management at MIT Sloan, will deliver the keynote address. His talk is entitled: IFFs and Action Learning: Impact for the Future of Management Education.

“This conference—which brings together some of the best and brightest minds in management education from around the globe—will explore issues at the frontiers of business and society and highlight the role that research and education play in shaping tomorrow’s world,” he said. “We are honored and delighted to join forces with Tsinghua University for this first-of-its-kind event.”

In addition to Prof. Huang, other speakers include:

  • Chong-En Bai, Dean, School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua
  • Yubo Chen, Associate Dean, School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua
  • Jacob Cohen, Senior Associate Dean for Undergraduate and Master’s Programs, MIT Sloan
