As a renowned cybersecurity professional, Angelica Marotta boasts an international research, consulting, and teaching portfolio.

Her interdisciplinary background is rooted in a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Pisa, a Graduate Certificate in Cyber Security, a Master’s degree in Justice Studies with a specialization in Cyber Security from Southern New Hampshire University, and a PhD in Cybersecurity from the University of South Wales, UK. She also holds the ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certification as a Certified Information Security Management System Auditor.

As a cybersecurity researcher currently affiliated with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) (Cybersecurity at MIT Sloan—CAMS), Dr. Marotta's investigative pursuits predominantly revolve around the nuances of cybersecurity regulatory compliance. She is the author and coauthor of numerous scholarly articles in prestigious cybersecurity journals and contributed chapters to leading industry books. Besides cybersecurity compliance, her other research interests include a wide range of topics, such as cybersecurity culture, artificial intelligence in healthcare, risk management, and cyber insurance.

Her academic endeavors in the field have earned her outstanding recognition, including the 2021 Best Paper Award at the IACIS Europe Conference. Her winning paper, recognized for significant contributions to information systems and related fields, is entitled “Convergence and Divergence of Regulatory Compliance and Cybersecurity.”
