About

Steven Rick is a postdoctoral research associate in the Center for Collective Intelligence. His work centers itself around the design, development, and evaluation of systems that augment human capabilities through collective intelligence with computational agents. His work spans the fields of user experience, biomedical informatics, human behavior sensing, and applied machine learning.

Steven received his PhD in computer science from UC San Diego, where he was advised by Nadir Weibel and was a member of the HXI Research Lab and the Design Lab. His dissertation focused on sensing nonverbal behavior between doctors and patients to elucidate links between communication and equitable health outcomes.
